Since the underlying DOS file system is normally accessible to the file server, and because NLMs are not subject to the security access restrictions that apply to workstations, anyone with access to the file server can load a hostile NLM on the server from the server’s floppy drive. Removing DOS from the server by typing the “REMOVE DOS” command at the console prevents an unauthorized person from loading a hostile NLM from the file server’s floppy drive.

Do not Allow Unencrypted Password

The default server setting for unencrypted passwords that should be kept is: SET Allow Unencrypted Passwords = OFF.
