As the Halloween event is coming up, the number of cyber crimes and scams is shooting up very sharply. Just like September, October is also full of threats and malware attacks. Last month, these scammers targeted the Yahoo! and Bing users and promised the users to gift an HP TouchPad after submitting an online survey. That online survey was just a scam, nothing else.

According to some researchers in GFI Software, these scammers and hackers demonstrate their ability in exploiting the users online search behavior. Hence, GFI has notified you in advance about the threats and attacks that can happen in this month. As per the latest reviews, these scammers may hit the Yahoo! and Bing search engine where users try to download Mozilla Firefox, Skype, Adobe, and other software products.

GFI has warned you to be on guard for Halloween-related scams, which include spam, e-mail attachments, and video links on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Also, GFI has suggested you to take extra precautions when contacted online for political donations or when searching the web for candidate information at home or at work.

There are people who never trust these surveys and only rely on the official website of that particular product. But, there are customers who become the victim of all these kinds of scams.

Like for example, in the month of September, HP TouchPad was in high demand. Thus, scammers started to lure users with fraudulent schemes related to the HP TouchPad tablet. The basic motto of these hackers was to get personal information about individuals from these online surveys.

So, in the month of October, you need to safeguard yourself from various threats, including a mixture of Trojans, adware, a backdoor, the Conficker worm (still), and the Sality virus.
