A new Trojan has come to the notice of security experts. This malicious software flaunts itself as a very important and useful plug-in that could help in enhancing the web browsing experience of the users. But in actual, this so called plug-in is a very harmful Trojan that spies and records the browsing habits of the users, who have somehow downloaded this bug. Two of the major web browsers, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, are both vulnerable to this newly found Trojan.
The famous Romania-based security firm Bitdefender has identified this Trojan virus as Trojan.Tracur.C. Bitdefender told that this Trojan virus disguises itself as an Adobe Flash Player upgrade and easily makes its way to the victim’s computers. Sadly, the problem does not end here. This Trojan virus has more to it. Once it is downloaded to the system and has infected the browser, the Trojan.Tracur.C releases another Trojan virus, identified as Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY, in the form of a Firefox add-on. Both the Trojans then execute wary and harmful actions on the victim, who browse the Internet with either of the above mentioned web browsers.

Out of the two Trojans, the rouge Firefox add-on does more harm, especially with the way it functions. This Trojan silently records all the info that the victim types or enters on to a search engine and then attaches malicious codes to the top results. This way of infecting computers is known as poisoned SEO. It allows the creators of the Trojan to hijack the web browser of the victim and then redirect it to the desired malicious webpages.
Bitdefender has written, “By now, it should be a golden rule to stay away from software offered by non-official sites.” It further wrote, “Double-check, or triple-check, the location’s credibility before downloading a program, application or add-on.”
So, it is advisable for all to get the best and genuine security software installed on the PC in order to keep it safe and secure, as well as prevent any unwanted loss.
