ESET Smart Security 5 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 now come with revamped ESET Live Grid, which is basically a cloud-based protection. The ESET Live Grid feature has two main functions – first, to speed up scan times by utilizing a cloud-based white-list of safe files and second, to utilize cloud-based reputation from other ESET users to help add an additional layer of protection against possible malicious content.
Then there is the Removable Media Control feature, which asks users to scan a removable drive, every time it is plugged in, such as a USB drive or memory card. An automated message is shown on the screen that prompts the user to scan the removable disk. This feature is important as the number of cases of malware infection in PCs through a removable medium is increasing tremendously.
Another new feature is the Gamer Mode. When this feature is turned on, it reduces the system footprint of ESET and blocks all pop-ups. This helps in the smooth running of high RAM consuming programs like games.
ESET Smart Security 5 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 both are loaded with Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS). HIPS is basically a tool meant for advanced users that lets the users to customize various system settings including registry values, system processes, apps, files, etc.
With all these features, both these security tools provide robust security solution to the users thus keeping their PCs and important data safe and secure from online threats.
