Lockheed Martin, a global security company, has opened a cyber warfare center in the United Kingdom to help the country fight against hackers in a better way.

The Security Intelligence Centre (SIC) is situated in Farnborough, Hampshire. The organization has employed 20 people and the strength could increase to 200.

“In the future we will be looking to support more customers in the public and private sector through advanced cyber defence solutions and training customer staff in the latest cyber tradecraft,” said Giri Sivanesan, UK head of cyber at Lockheed Martin.

The SIC analysts working in the UK will coordinate with those working in the United States in order to divide cyber attacks into different phases called ‘the cyber kill chain’ that will help in the identification of long-term threats.

The inauguration of the SIC was done by Gerald Howarth, minister for international security strategy.

“We must ensure cyberspace remains open to innovation and make Britain one of most secure places in world to do business,” Howarth said in the statement. “As recognised in the government’s cybersecurity strategy, the threat to our national security from cyberattacks is real and growing and is a threat that we must face together across society.”

Cabinet Office Minister Francis Maude revealed that the Internet would help employ 3,65,000 people over the course of the next five years. Therefore, the British Government is keen to make its country one of the safest places for doing business.

It seems that the United Kingdom is trying to take a leaf out of the US book. The Americans managed to deal with cyber attacks from China and Russia quite successfully.
