Search-engine-giant Google has always given its best when it comes to helping it customers.- Even if this help may sometimes come in a small way, the gesture is anyhow commendable. What makes Google so popular is it has never concentrated just on its search engine. It has always been in a lookout to provide new and interesting things to its users. Google Doodle, for instance provides alerts of notable events for the day and ‘I am feeling lucky’ bypasses the search results and opens the first search page of the list. To add to that, Google Web Store is one place where you can find hundreds of apps which you can use not just for your amusement, but also for easing your tasks.
In continuance with its vision to serve its customers with new and innovative features, Google now has introduced a new system which alerts users about infections whenever they hit their computer. The idea of coming up with a system like this was conceived by Google when its servers were hit by multiple malware infections. There was unusual search traffic taking place due to these infections. Technically speaking, a small number of intermediary servers called ‘Proxies’ were exploited by malware infected computers to send traffic to Google.
This alert system from Google reminds the users to update their virus database and also helps to remove malicious threats like viruses, malwares, etc. from their systems. Users are also notified about any malicious programs or threats that may be present in their systems.
Other companies such as Microsoft are coming forward to curb this genre of malware infections by planning to make the ISPs more intelligent so that malicious threats can be scanned more promptly and proactively. It is seen that most of the malware infect Microsoft Windows–based operating systems. These malware infections cause the system to send traffic to Google by downloading rogue programs on their Microsoft Windows-based system. The infection can lead to further problems by tricking the Windows users by diverting him to malicious sites, leading to download of further rogue software, etc.
The proactive actions taken by Google and Microsoft are noteworthy. Users are definitely going to get the benefit out of such benevolent gestures shown by the two giants, and protect their system from malicious threats.
