A group of miscreants active online managed to steal the log-in details and e-mail addresses of several members of the United Nations and its associate organizations. Not only this, the hackers even had the audacity of disclosing all the information on the Internet along with some scathing comments.

Log-in details, e-mail IDs of UN members hacked

The whistle-blowing kind of group that has set alarm bells ringing for some of the renowned global organizations is known by the name of TeamPoison. Many of the e-mails hacked by the group seemed to belong to members of the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme).

However, a UNDP spokesman mentioned that her organization believed “an old server which contains old data” had been seized.

“The UNDP found [the] compromised server and took it offline,” said Sausan Ghosheh.

However, TeamPoison and security experts said that the data stolen was not obsolete and that breaking into the online security arrangement of the United Nations was no ordinary breakthrough. The team of hackers flayed one of the premier international institutions on several counts.

“A Senate for Global Corruption, the United Nations sits to facilitate the introduction of a New World Order and a One World Government,” the group said.

The other e-mail addresses seemed to be those of people working with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), World Health (WHO) and UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Although the United Nations is trying to downplay the enormity of its security failure, cyber security experts are alarmed.

“The UN is seen as a symbol for security and trust for many millions of people around the world,” claimed Cryptocard managing director Jason Hart. “Hacking their systems is TeamPoison’s way of making a big statement to the outside world,” he added.
