Be cautious while driving, because hackers are now ready to target your car. Computer security company McAfee has reported that hackers can easily crack the built-in computerized technology of a car to find out personal information and other relevant details of a person.

Presently, hackers can easily chase you through your GPS receiver from a Bluetooth device so as to steal your sensitive information. Not only this, even if your car is locked, it is quite easy for them to enter your car by unlocking the doors and power windows with the help of Bluetooth.

Additionally, McAfee also mentioned in the report that car makers are trying to excite the users by adding amazing features like Internet access and gadgets used for navigation. But security is one essential aspect which is untouched.

The Senior Vice President and General Manager Stuart McClure of McAfee said “As an increasing number of functions get embedded in the digital technology of automobiles, the threat of attack and malicious manipulation increases.”

The Black Hat Security Conference that took place in Las Vegas this year uncovered the tactics applied by hackers. Some of the security consultants simply demonstrated a technique to unlock and lock a car by sending a text message from a mobile device. It was also shown as to how hackers can start an engine of a car by transferring messages to a car’s computer.

After getting familiar with these facts, it would be interesting to see how car equipment manufacturers can secure the computers installed in the cars they develop; the most notable being the self-driven cars being developed by Google.
